New Blog

Hi guys,

My Friend Susan gave me a link to a great vegan blog. I am digging the graph that she has on her most recent post. Too true!

Here is the link:

I have also posted it on our side bar.

Love to all!

Shay, I hope your little Christian is doing better! I don't have much experience in the ear infection category :( Sorry!

  2. He is doing better but he has had 2 ear infections already and he's only 2 and a half months old! With all I have learned recently I told myself we would not do antibiotics with Christian unless absolutely necessary (unlike jocelyn where every time she got an ear infection (which was a ton but she was super healthy besides that) the ped would give her a prescription and wed give it to her because that's what the doctor said to do...so stupid, I know). But when the time came and the doc prescribed an antibiotic, I knew I didn't want to give them to him but I realized I didn't know what TO do. And I didnt know how to intelligently ask the doctor what were my other options...so I still would love some help here. Christian is a really spitty baby and before we learned how to prop him properly I think that's how all that fluid got there...so now that we know how and when to keep him elevated I'm hoping that will help.

Katie, do you do the lemon juice even for tiny babies? And have any of you ever used an electric bulb syringe? I'm thinking that might help clear the congestion better.

  3. I've done the lemon juice on all of us. From what I know, it's just supposed to change the ph of the area so that bacteria can't grow.

As for the electric bulb syringe....be really careful! Babies have really sensitive tissue and even a regular bulb syringe can cause damage. I rely more on the saline solution to break up the mucous...then just suck it out carefully. By the way, you might want to check my measurements first because it's been a while since I've made it, but instead of buying saline...use 1/4 t salt to 1/2 c of warm water to dissolve.
